Teacher Trainees in the Public Colleges of Education have not receive their monthly allowances for the whole second semester which calculates to four (4) months arrears amounting to Ghs1600.
Per the academic calendar with the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) to the disbursement of the teacher trainees allowances for the second semester is scheduled for payment for the months of May, June, July and August.
Trainee teachers have been in high anticipation for their four months arrears of allowance. From the explanations given by the SLTF and the Finance Minister is that, trainee teachers will have to wait for a little time to receive their allowance.
Information reaching CIT!ZEN NEWS with Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) depicts that Teacher Trainees at the Public Colleges of Education will only be paid for two months allowances instead of four months.
The Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has made it clear to the leadership of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana(TTAG) that trainees shall be paid their allowances with a month’s arrears in few days ahead.
This response from the SLTF was an indication that the Ministry of Finance could not issue their full four(4) months arrears to the SLTF to enable the Fund managers to effect any payment of allownaces.
The SLTF therefore clearly stated that, the teacher trainees allowance shall be paid with an arrears.
Does that mean that they will pay only two months' allowance for the entire semester instead of four months'? Or I just didn't get the information clearly?
